The Bodie Wood and Lumber Company was organized by H.M. Yerington, J.W. Haynie and others to acquire timber lands and water rights in Mono County, California, just south of Mono Lake. In 1881, the same group built a narrow gauge railway to carry freight from Bodie to the timber area. The company was sometimes referred to as the Mono Lake Lumber Co., The Mono Wood and Lumber Co. and The Mono Lumber Co.
