Move it…
The University of Nevada, Reno seeks eleven new library faculty members to join us during a period of unprecedented growth and excitement. During summer 2008, the university libraries will move into a beautiful new facility. The Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center will be one of the most technologically advanced libraries in the country. Computing and information technologies and support, combined with the latest multimedia tools and the resources of the University Libraries, will be housed in a physical environment designed for comfort, efficiency, and collaboration. It is destined to become a one-stop shop for research and presentation, reflection, and social interaction, and a focal point of campus and community culture.
The classical red brick building provides 295,000 square feet of high-tech research, presentation, and computing
spaces, attractive and efficient staff work environments, and comfortable, inviting study areas and reading rooms with
spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada and the bright lights of downtown Reno. A soaring central atrium provides natural
light throughout the building.
Shake it…
The Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center presents an exceptional opportunity to develop and integrate Library and Information Technology services, resources, and staff in a custom designed facility. The Knowledge Center will be home to a small group of instructional designers, computing and Help Desk professionals, systems administrators, and media production specialists from the Information Technology division, also under the direction of the Vice President for Information Technology/Dean of Libraries. Librarians and IT professionals will work collaboratively to connect with university faculty across campus, to inject library research methods and resources into instructional design and course management systems, to assist students in developing multimedia projects that integrate content and design factors, and to assist students and faculty in applying data analysis and visualization models.
