Bernard Schopen
Nevada Writers Hall of Fame 2000

Bernard Schopen was born in Deadwood, South Dakota and has lived in Reno, off and on, for 30 years. His three mysteries, all set in Nevada, feature Reno detective, Jack Ross. They are: The Big Silence, The Desert Look, The Iris Deception. In addition, he has written a critical book on mystery writer Ross Macdonald. Bernie teaches in the Western Traditions program at UNR. Bernie received his B.A. and M.A. degrees in English literature from the University of Washington, and his Ph.D. from UNR
