Gailmarie Pahmeier
Gailmarie Pahmeier has published two books of poetry:
- With Respect for Distance (Black Rock Press, 1992)
- The House on Breakaheart Road (University of Nevada Press, 1998).
A limited edition of her book, What Emma Loves (Black Rock Press, 1995), was produced on letterpress by students in The History and Practice of Printing Class. She has been a member of the English faculty at the University of Nevada, Reno since 1985. In 1995, she received the university's Distinguished Teaching Award.
Widely published in literary journals and anthologies, including Seven Nevada Poets (Rainshadow Editions, Black Rock Press, 1991), Gailmarie has received numerous writing awards including the Chambers Memorial Award in Poetry.
In March 2007, Gailmarie received the Governor's Arts Award for Excellence in the Arts both in recognition for her own writing in the areas of contemporary American literature, memoir, poetry, and women's literature, but also for her years of effort in organizing literary programming events throughout Nevada. She has been a member of the English Department faculty at the University of Nevada, Reno, since 1985.
