Adrian Louis
Nevada Writers Hall of Fame 1999

Adrian C. Louis is a mixed-blood Indian from Nevada who teaches at Oglala Lakota College on the Pine Ridge Reservation. An enrolled member of the Lovelock Paiute Indian Tribe, he is a graduate of Brown University, where he also earned an M.A. in the Creative Writing Program. In 1995, Louis published his seventh book of poetry and his first novel, Skins. He has won numerous awards for his writing, including a Pushcart Prize and fellowships from the South Dakota and Nebraska Arts Councils, Bush Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, and Lila Wallace–Readers Digest Foundation.
