Barbara Land and Myrick Land made a significant contribution to Nevada historical writing with A Short History of Las Vegas and A Short History of Reno. The Lands wrote both individually and jointly. Myrick, who died in 1998, wrote nonfiction, countless magazine articles and four novels, including one nominated as Best First Mystery of the Year by The Mystery Writers of America. Barbara has written several books, including works of a scientific nature for young readers. Together they authored books and articles on subjects as diverse as Lee Harvey Oswald, the changing South, and the economic and political impact of the oil industry on Venezuela.
