About Electronic Journals at UNR
The UNR Libraries provide full-text access to articles in over 19,000 electronic journals that UNR subscribes to. There are several different ways to find the e-journal title that you need.
1. Search for E-journals by Title**
This function enables you to search on a key word or phrase that occurs at the beginning of an e-journal title ("starts with" search option) or that occurs anywhere in that title ("contains" search option). Of course, you may also search on the complete name of an e-journal title.
** If you would also like to include print and microform journal
titles in the search results, make sure to choose the "Web OR in the Library"
option before you perform a search.
2. Browse for E-journals by Title
Electronic Journal Title Lists allow you to browse all e-journal titles
that begin with a selected letter. For example, clicking the letter "J"
will display all the e-journal titles that begin with "J".
3. Browse for E-journals by Subject
Electronic Journal Subject Lists allow you to browse all e-journal titles that contain contents relevant to a certain subject. For example, clicking the subject "Education" will display all the education related e-journal titles that have been carefully selected by the libraries subject specialist for education. Directly Accessible E-journals vs. E-journals in Article Databases
On the Electronic Journal Title Lists, blue titles link directly to the journal while black titles are available only in article databases which require a title search in a search engine. UNR's e-journal collection has about 16,000 directly accessible titles and close to 3,000 titles that are available only in article databases. Electronic Journal Subject Lists include directly accessible e-journals only.
If Our E-journal Lists Do Not Have What You Are Looking for...
Do not despair. We suggest you take the following steps:
- Search the journal title in the library catalog to see if the UNR libraries own the journal title of a specific volume of the journal title in print or microform format.
- If the UNR libraries own the item you need, take a trip to the owning library to retrieve it.
- If the UNR libraries do not own the item you need, you may request the item through our interlibrary loan service by filling out a request form for journal articles.
Off-Campus Access
Our licenses with publishers and vendors restrict off-campus access to authenticated UNR faculty, staff, and students.
