Services Available at the Main Reference Desk
Personnel at the Main Reference Desk in Getchell Library assist users in locating and interpreting information sources. These sources may be print, electronic, or microform in format. Please consult the Reference Desk staff concerning:
- Searching the UNR Libraries' online catalog
- Understanding how to navigate the Libraries' web site, and how to select the most relevant database(s) for your research project
- Identifying relevant information resources, such as magazine articles, statistics, reviews, and biographical data
- Guidance in locating resources in the UNR Libraries and elsewhere
- Developing efficient research strategies
- Scheduling research skills training sessions for NSHE classes and high
school groups

The Libraries' Web-based information services include:

The URL of the University Libraries home page is http://www.library.unr.edu/. Any one with an Internet connection and a browser can search the library catalog or use unrestricted (open-access) Web resources. Access to UNR Library subscription resources is restricted to the UNR campus or to authenticated off-campus UNR users. Please see Off-campus Access to Licensed Resources for instructions.

Electronic Databases
UNR Libraries subscribe to electronic periodical indexes, reference resources, and electronic journals that support the research and informational needs of the UNR community. Researchers may select from a List of Databases by Title or consult a Subject Guide. Electronic Journals are listed by Subject and Title. UNR users who wish to access these resources from off-campus should see Off-campus Access to Licensed Resources for detailed instructions.
