Off-campus Access:
Using Links NOT on the Library Web
Links on the Library web site to licensed resources have been modified so that our proxy server will prompt you for your UNR NetID username and password if you are off-campus. After authenticating you as a UNR user, the proxy server sends you on your way to the original destination, which then lets you access resources purchased for UNR users.
What happens when you use an "external" link to a UNR licensed resource? If you use a link that is not on our web, or type a web address directly into your browser's address bar, our proxy server will not prompt you for your NetID username and password. Therefore, you will not be "authenticated" as a UNR user. The licensed resource may deny you access, or ask you to login.
How to make an "external" link work!
You can modify an external link (i.e. a link NOT on the Library web) to a UNR licensed resource so that it will work for off-campus access!
Edit the link directly in your browser's address bar, or edit in Notepad
and paste it into the address bar:
External link example:
http://search.ebscohost.com/direct.asp?db=aph&jid=C0X&scope=site
(CyberPsychology and Behavior)
Modified link example:
http://0-search.ebscohost.com.innopac.libary.unr.edu/direct.asp?db=aph&jid=C0X&scope=site
Add
0- ("zero hyphen") after http://
Add:
.innopac.library.unr.edu after .org (or .com
or .gov or .mil), before the first forward slash
